Quiz-5/ Q:1 sir, how is it translated “dividing x decreased by z by 7”? my answer x-z/7 does not match with answer key. how it becomes 7-x??

2009 population = P₉
2010 population = P₁₀

10% of 2009 population = 1.1P₉

2010 population is 10% greater than 2009 population
P₁₀ = 1.1P₉

Hi Saim,
In fact, the answer is actually choice E.

As 2010 population was 10% greater than 2009 population.
P₁₀ = 1.1P₉

For instance, “Your height is/was 50% greater than your sister’s height”

It doesn’t mean U > 1.5 (S) {As 50% greater means (1 + 0.5) times, you’ll learn this in percents vs times topic later}

Rather it means, U = 1.5 (S)

is/was converted to = sign.

None of the answers is correct for ‘sum of y&9’ wala question.
You have translated ‘x decreased by 7’ to ‘7-x’. Please correct

Hi Tayyab,
It’s not written anywhere that ‘x decreased by 7’.
Actually it’s:
“dividing (x decreased by z) by (7 decreased by x)”
So 7 decreased by x, rather than x decreased by 7.

Hi Sidra, After 500 is taken from F’s salary, then F’s salary = F – 500 And combined salary of F & G = (F – 500) + G Now, Combined salary of F and G would equals to means: (F – 500) + G This is Left Hand Side (L.H.S) of the equation.
